Exploring the Art of Color and Customization in Auto CollisionAfter spending the first half of the school year developing their non-structural dent repair skills, Level 1 Auto Collision students have begun exploring the paint and refinish process. Throughout the process, students head into the paint booth to spray two rounds of primer, color, then a layer of clear coat. In an effort to use every drop of paint and avoid material waste, Mr. Byrne mixes the colors using paint leftover from customer work completed over the course of the school year. You never know what you're going to get!
Students also have the opportunity to add their own creative flare to their fender by applying designs using stencils or airbrushing. While the end goal is the same for everyone, to produce a dent-free and paint-finished fender, each student has the opportunity to engage in the creative process to create something that represents them and their interests.
