Note: presently CCNA training is divided by Cisco Network Academy into three learning sections:
- Intro to Networks
- Switching, Routing & Wireless Essentials,
- Enterprise Networking, Security & Automation
Cisco level 1: (covers section 1 & the first half of section 2)
CCNA section 1: Introduces architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements –to support the operations and priorities of large companies to small innovative retailers. Build simple local area networks (LANs). Acquire a working knowledge of IP addressing schemes, foundational network security, & be able to perform basic routers and switch configuration.
CCNA section 2: Delve further into networks focusing on switching technologies, router operations & wireless local area networks (WLAN). You’ll perform basic network configuration & troubleshooting, identify & mitigate LAN security threats, configure & secure a basic WLAN.
Cisco level 2: (covers 2nd half of section 2 & section 3)

CCNA section 3 This third element describes the architectures and considerations related to designing, securing, operating, & troubleshooting large enterprise networks. It covers wide area network (WAN) technologies and quality of service (QoS) mechanisms used for secure remote access. It introduces software-defined networking, virtualization, & automation concepts that support the digitalization of networks.
