Colonel Lambert Named Region 5 Teacher of the Year
Colonel Tim Lambert, AFJROTC instructor at Chantilly Academy was recently named the Region 5 Outstanding Secondary School teacher which also names him as a finalist for the school system-wide award.
In a letter from Ms.Rebecca Baenig, Region 5 Assistant Superintendent, Colonel Lambert was praised for his honor. "Your leadership and commitment to excellence to the Chantilly High School Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) program have not only made a tremendous impact on your Air Force ROTC students (cadets), your style of leadership has resulted in you being sought after to serve as a mentor for new teachers. As a result of your leadership, your students are prepared for college, the workforce, or the military, setting them up for success (99% of cadets graduate from high school and 98% enter the workforce). Your ability to build relationships with military and community organizations has created opportunities for your cadets and the school in general. In addition to the time you give during your regular working hours you stay after school to support the AFJROTC programs, drive to competitions on the weekends, and chaperone the presentation of flags at 70 events per year. Families in the Chantilly community have benefitted from your dedication to the success of students in both their educational and social development. You are truly an inspiration and an asset to Chantilly High School and Fairfax County Public Schools."
Mr. Scott Settar, Academy Administrator was proud to write a letter of support for Colonel Lambert. "Col Lambert embodies the mission of AFJROTC to "Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." Under directive from Col Lambert's program, he instructs a citizenship training program that is designed to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill personal responsibility, character, and self-discipline. The program achieves this through classroom education in air and space fundamentals and hands on learning opportunities in a number of fun and challenging extra-curricular activities. Col Lambert's mission is to, "Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."
Congratulations, Col Lambert
